Spend Less Time in Line with Disneyland's FASTPASS and MaxPass

Amy Fandrei

Much like Walt Disney World®'s FastPass+ system, the FASTPASS system at Disneyland® Park and Disneyland's California Adventure® Park is a free tool that you can use to help save time and do more in the parks. Who wouldn't want to take advantage of that?

Disneyland's FASTPASS system is a kiosk system that can be accessed in the park during your visit. It is available for select attractions in both Disneyland® Park and Disneyland's California Adventure®. Here's how it works:

1. Locate the FASTPASS Distribution sign outside the entrance for the attraction.

2. Check the return time displayed on the FASTPASS sign.

3. If the return time works with your plans, insert your valid Disneyland® Resort admission ticket. Take the printed FASTPASS receipt with your Return-Time displayed and your park admission ticket.

4. Return to the attraction during the Return-Time window and scan your park admission ticket. You'll enter the attraction queue through the FASTPASS entrance and board the ride with minimal wait.

This system is very similar to Walt Disney World's former paper-ticket FastPass system before it was replaced with FastPass+.

There are a couple of important things to keep in mind about Disneyland's FASTPASS system:

  • FASTPASS entitlements are good only during the Return-Time window on the day in which the entitlement is secured.

  • Everyone in your party who wishes to use the FASTPASS entrance must have secured a FASTPASS entitlement.

  • You can have only one FASTPASS at a time. You can access another FASTPASS entitlement once the time on your current FASTPASS has expired.

  • You must have a valid park admission ticket or Annual Pass to secure a FASTPASS entitlement.

  • FASTPASS selections are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.

You can take advantage of FASTPASS at the following Disneyland and Disneyland's California Adventure attractions:

Disneyland Park

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

  • Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters

  • Fantasmic!

  • Haunted Mansion

  • Haunted Mansion Holiday

  • Indiana Jones™ Adventure

  • “it’s a small world” Holiday

  • Matterhorn Bobsleds

  • Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin

  • Space Mountain

  • Splash Mountain

  • Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

Disney California Adventure Park

  • California Screamin’

  • Goofy’s Sky School

  • Grizzly River Run

  • Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

  • Radiator Springs Racers

  • Soarin’ Around the World

  • Toy Story Midway Mania!

  • World of Color

  • World of Color – Season of Light

If you love the idea of FASTPASS but dread having to stand in line at the FASTPASS Distribution points for your FASTPASS receipts, you should consider upgrading to MaxPass.

MaxPass is a ticket upgrade that allows you to download, save, and share all of your Disney PhotoPass images and book your FASTPASS entitlements using the Disneyland® app while you're in the parks. The rules for FASTPASS still apply, but you can make your selection from your phone based on availability. You'll then scan the code on your phone when you arrive at the FASTPASS entrance for the selected attraction. You can purchase MaxPass through your MousePros agent, or you can choose to make the upgrade while at the park by purchasing it on the Disneyland® app.

Your MousePros agent can help you decide which attractions you should try to secure a FASTPASS for based on your party's size, interests, and schedule for the day. He or she can also help you determine if you should upgrade to the MaxPass option.
